Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
