Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
