Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
